Health Charities

The Alzheimer Society Peel (BN: 132657396 RR0001) was incorporated in 1983 as a charitable non-profit organization to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias; to help find the cause, prevention and cure.  Since that time, our Chapter has diligently worked to support families and individuals affected by the disease. The Society serves the Region of Peel through our offices in Brampton and Mississauga.  Our Chapter promotes public and professional awareness of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and offers a variety of programs and services.  All services and programs operate either free of charge or for a nominal fee. We offer Day Programs, counselling, support and bereavement groups, public education, the First Link Program, volunteer opportunities and access to a 24 hour respite care home. Alzheimer Society Peel works with all service providers to ensure that optimum health and social services are provided for the family and persons with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias in the Region of Peel.

Canadian Blood Services

Canadian Blood Services is a not-for-profit, charitable organization. Its sole mission is to manage the blood supply and OneMatch Stem Cell and Marrow Network for Canadians. Every minute of every day, someone in Canada needs blood. Blood and blood products are a critical part of everyday medical care including major surgeries, medical procedures, cancer treatments and managing disease. A car crash victim can use blood from up to 50 donors. A Leukemia patient can use blood from up to 8 blood donors per week. Every year, over 100,000 new blood donors are needed to maintain the national inventory and meet the needs of patients across Canada. At any given time there are hundreds of Canadian patients who are searching for an unrelated stem cell donor. Stem cell transplants are used for treating over 80 diseases and disorders. For many patients, a blood stem cell transplant is the last and best hope of recovery. Every year, 25,000 new registrations of diverse background are needed to find matches for patients here in Canada and around the world.

The Canadian Cancer Society (BN: 118829803RR0001) is a national community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer. We are one of the top two health charity funders of Crohn’s and colitis research in the world, investing over $94 million in research to date. We are transforming the lives of people affected by Crohn’s and colitis - the two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease - through research, patient programs, advocacy, and awareness. Our Crohn’s & Colitis – Make it stop. For life. Campaign will raise $100 million by 2020 to advance our mission.

Heart House Hospice (BN: 132155011RR0001) helps people make the most of every moment.  We support the residents of Mississauga and Brampton with much needed in-home support when they are faced with a life-limiting illness.  Hospice programs include hospice counselling, in-home volunteers, day program, complementary therapies, spiritual care, bereavement support and counselling for children and youth who are living with the dying or death of a family member at no cost to families.   We receive partial funding from the government but to bridge the gap, we must raise $595,000 annually relying on the generosity of corporations, foundations, community minded citizens, service clubs and special events. Together, we make a meaningful difference in people’s end of life experiences.

Trillium Health Partners Foundation (BN: 119245678RR0001) is dedicated to raising the critical funds needed to address the highest priority needs of Trillium Health Partners—Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital, and Queensway Health Centre.
